Flowers:
The five outer floral segments are broad, ovate, purplish-green. (sometimes darker purple, or pinkish purple enclosing the lower segment which is whitish, constricted in the middle, and dark purple inside, towards the base. Bracts are longer than the flowers. The inflorescence is a dense, elongated cluster occupying up to 30 cm of the stem and containing up to 100 flowers
Leaves:
Broad, ovate, spreading, strongly veined, up to 17 cm long and 10 cm wide. Leaves grow along the stem but not right at the base, and are spirally arranged
