Solitary, sideways-facing; six light yellow, petal-like lobes around a darker yellow tube, partly divided into irregular lobes around the upper margin. Compared to the abundant cultivated daffodils, often planted along roadsides, the wild species has flowers which are smaller, and more obviously bicoloured
Leaves:
Narrow, linear, basal, greyish-green, up to 35 cm long, angled vertically upwards
