Flowers:
Small, white, in compound umbels up to 6 cm across. Individual clusters are subtended by red-tipped bracteoles, while below the main (terminal) umbel are several much broader bracts, partly divided into three pointed lobes. Flowers are also produced, in smaller clusters, at the upper leaf nodes, where they are attached by short stalks
Leaves:
Hairless, light green, pinnately divided into a terminal leaflet and between seven to 14 pairs of lateral leaflets. Leaflets are lined by rounded teeth, each terminating in a tiny reddish spine. On hairless, slightly ridged stems
