Small clusters (three to ten) atop leafless stems which are often purplish below. Flowerheads are up to 3.5 cm in diameter, with all-yellow ray florets above a cylindrical involucre ringed with dark green bracts which, like the pedicels and upper stem, have a covering of short, whitish, star-shaped hairs and longer, black glandular hairs
Leaves:
Basal, broadly lanceolate, dark green, up to 7 cm long, lined with a few teeth. Hairless upper surfaces; downy below
