In small, curving clusters at the upper portion of the short, square stems, which have appressed hairs towards the top and spreading hairs near the base. Flowers are yellow at first, changing to pale purple then blue, and are held a little way above the leafy part of the stem. When mature, the corolla is about twice as long as the calyx. The calyx, like the stem, is covered by relatively long, spreading, bristly white hairs
