Flowers:
The reddish-purple corolla is around 18 mm long, with a small, hooded upper lip and a three-lobed lower lip, angled downwards; the middle lobe is the largest, and is crossed by white markings. The calyx has five spreading, equal-sized lobes, tapering to a sharp point, and, like the leaves and stem angles, has a covering of bristly hairs
Leaves:
Bristly-hairy, cordate around the base becoming more ovate up the stem; up to 9 cm long, on stalks of up to 7 cm
