The four petals are coloured pale blue to almost white, crossed with broad, dark blue lines, while the four sepals are greenish, ovate and about two thirds as long. Attached by short stalks, though longer than the sepals. Flowers are relatively small, around 5 mm in diameter; there is also an upland variety (ssp humifusa) with a more prostrate growth form, and flowers up to 8 mm across
